Planning a Laser Tag Party with Your Teen

 

If you’re planning a laser tag party for your teenager, there are certain things you need to keep in mind.

 

First things first, you’ll want to make sure that you consult with your teen in everything. Sure, you’re the parent and you’re basically the one sponsoring the event or laser tag party. As such, you basically have a say in planning the party. However, you need to remember that you’re planning their party and not yours.

 

When planning the laser tag party, give your teen a chance to suggest a location. When it comes to a laser tag party, there are commonly three options for a venue: a game centre, a park, or at your backyard (provided it is wide enough).

 

The problem with the first option is that you’ll have to buy all the food and beverages from the establishment. If you’re tight on budget, this may not be such a good idea since cooking the food yourself can save you a significant amount of cash.

 

The second venue is good when you consider space and playing laser tag in the park is quite normal. The only issue there perhaps is the lack of privacy. Holding the party at your home solves these issues. You can cook the food yourself and cut on your expenses and enjoy the party in the privacy of your own home. This is something for your teen to consider when choosing a venue.

 

Another thing to plan with your teen is the food. Unlike younger children, your teenager may not like the idea of having a birthday cake or spaghetti. They’re all grown up now, and they may not relish the idea of preparing food seen at party for kid’s birthday. At this stage, pizza, burgers and barbeque may be a more fitting choice.

 

There are certainly other aspects that must be considered. For one there’s the invite, the guest list — with regard to these things and several others, you may want to allow your teen to exercise their full freedom. However, you should still be there to guide them in case they need any help or want to check on something (like the content and language of the invite).
